The first Miss ICIBE pageant was held in 1970 before individual IBE chapters were formed Phyllis Carr pioneered this effort. As chapters begin to form across the state each local chapter had a chapter pageant, then a State Queen was selected. The Indianapolis IBE office has records and memorabilia for past pageant Queens of The Indianapolis Chapter of Indiana Black Expo, Inc.
Our mission was to exemplify inner beauty, intelligence, talent, creativity, congeniality, poise and faith in young women of color. Our Goal for over 35 years, never changed. We are still here to provide scholarship assistance to extraordinary young ladies, in the furtherance of their academic achievement, while promoting community service and student involvement. We are extremely proud of this program, which features our Young Women’s Empowerment Series (Y.W.E.S.) and we plan to continue it well into the future.
We invited young ladies in the Indianapolis Area who are striving for Higher Education to an Accredited College or University to showcase their individual talents, academic, efforts, and community service initiatives to the community for their chance to become Miss ICIBE. Since 2019 our Miss ICIBE pageant has revamped and is now the Miss CEO Program.
